WRESTLE WITH NO MAN
We should all know the famous sermon on the mount fondly called the beatitudes. It is one of those classical sermons that aids those with hearing ears back to their exalted kingdom upon the pinnacle of Zion. These words which are being heard to this very day, not only aid the sons back into glory, but also establishes and maintains them by safeguarding them against the many pitfalls on the way.
One area I personally had to go through a lot to learn, is trying to convince people about the mystery of the faith that we preach. At times we feel we are obliged to try to change everybody we meet along the way. I did this for many years until the day came when out of my worn out faculties I came to the understanding that if the world could not hear Jesus, what makes me think it will be any different in my own case. If you are blessed with a hearing ear and a seeing eye, the only charge we have is to guard and keep this treasure with all our being. Those whom the Father will draw to the light in you, come in due season.
Let us never be deceived into thinking that Jesus, Paul and the other Disciples ever had a large followership. Someone might argue that Jesus had multitudes following Him, those who say such things do err, they fail to realize that the multitudes never saw the real Jesus, they were only seeing parables and riddles. To this very day the multitudes do not get it, they still envisage Jesus in a wrong light. Many just see Him as an external provider sent to cater for and promote their human needs and aspirations. In doing these things many err, not realizing that Jesus represents their life..their eternal life.
The sacred words of our faith revealing the mystery God appearing as a man will always sound like heresy or plain foolishness to the ordinary man who has not fine tuned his faculties to perceive spiritual communication. Those who preach these things will only suffer persecution, derision and ridicule before all men, particularly from the religious men of this age. Nethertheless, we are encouraged not to allow ourselves to be demoralized by the negative reactions of men, because all these subtly work to quench the fire of the Spirit within. We are also admonished not to wrestle with men, those who are appointed to hear will hear the gospel, it is all divinely planned before time.
Remember the words of Jesus, “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
The dogs and the swine represent “flesh and blood” otherwise known as the carnal mind which can in no way know the things of God. They not only trample under feet these sacred pearls of the kingdom but they also try to destroy your faith in a subtle manner. There is no need for arguments, litigations or even chasing after people who do not share the same belief that you have. The more you hang around those who do not see what see or hear what you hear, the more you become like them. Move with people of like minds, and if there are none around stay alone for a while the Lord will draw you to them in due season.
The word from the Spirit is, “do not wrestle with any man”, keep your peace, keep the sacred mystery of the Faith throughout all generations.
